Which background color to pick, by use case

LinkedIn: Navy, studio gray, or off-white. Skip pure white — it reads as ID card, not LinkedIn.
Corporate website / team page: Match your brand. If your site has a navy hero, use #0F1B2D so the headshot blends. If it's a warm-cream design system, use #F4F1E8.
US passport, Green Card, visa: Pure white (#FFFFFF). Use the Passport Photo Maker instead — it enforces the head-height band too.
UK passport: Cream (#F4F1E8). The UK explicitly disallows pure white.
German Bewerbungsfoto: ID gray (#EFEFEF).

What's the best background color for a LinkedIn photo?

Solid navy (#0F1B2D), studio gray (#B8B8B8), or off-white (#F5F1EA) all work. Avoid pure white on LinkedIn — it makes the photo look ID-card formal. Solid colors beat busy backgrounds by 14% in profile-view counts.

What color is the German Bewerbungsfoto background?

Plain white or light gray (#EFEFEF). Most German recruiters expect a 'biometric-style' background. Use ID gray or white for Bewerbungsfotos.

Can I add a gradient background?

Not yet — the tool supports solid colors only. For gradient or environmental backgrounds, generate a fresh photo in the AI Studio (each style has its own backdrop).

Does this remove the background completely?

Yes. The cutout is genuinely background-free with alpha transparency. The solid color is added on top during the preview. PNG export keeps the transparency; JPG flattens to solid.

Will the edges look natural?

For most headshots, yes — the model handles hair, glasses, and clothing cleanly. The hardest cases are frizzy hair against a busy original background and translucent items (sunglasses, wisps of hair).

Does this upload my photo?

No. Both the segmentation step and the color composite run client-side in your browser. The image never leaves your device.
